Light, Medium & Tilt Deck Tow Truck Operator (Owner Operator)
Job Function:
- To provide for the safe and professional moving of vehicles, equipment and other products as directed by the company and its customers in a timely and accurate method to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
- To ensure all duties and responsibilities are carried out to the best of your abilities, per company policies, procedures and written Contract agreement for Owner Operators.
Primary Duties:
- Represent Dr Hook Towing in a Professional, friendly and courteous manner always including the wearing of a company approved Hi Vis PPE Uniform.
- Complete all calls promptly, safely and as directed by the Dispatcher or Management.
- Arrive at work on time per Shift Assignments and complete the entire shift.
- Minimize absenteeism and notify the company of late Arrival in advance.
- Prepare, complete and hand in on time all necessary documentation and paper work and invoices per Company policy and procedures.
- Ensure customers and or bystanders are at a safe distance from the work area.
- Ensure that your Tow Vehicle’s exterior and interior are always clean and tidy.
- Ensure that your Tow Vehicle is equipped with all required equipment and that it is in good working order as outlined in the company policy and procedures manual.
- Ensure that you have all required Personal Protective Equipment when starting your shift, and that it is being properly used during your shift.
- Clean up debris at accidents scenes as outlined by the company policy and procedures.
- Perform Vehicle Towing, Recovery, Lock Outs, Tire Changes, Boosting, and other duties as assigned per company policy and procedures.
- Secure all loads and cargo in a safe and compliant manner as required by Federal Regulations and company policy and procedures.
- Ensure the use of secondary means of securement (safety chains) on each tow.
- Ensure that safety lighting is installed on all towed vehicles.
- Perform Daily Inspection of Hoisting Equipment as per MR 217/06 Part # 23
- Sign binding Owner Operator Contract Agreement.
- Supply an approved tow truck, fully equipped, insured, valid MB Safety, decaled with company logo and truck unit number.
- Purchase and pay for towing or cargo insurance from the company as required.
- Obtain a valid Workmen’s compensation number in the event more that more than one driver will be operating the Tow Truck.
- Provide Current Valid Driver’s abstract.
- Valid Manitoba class 5, driver’s license or better.
- Current Police Criminal Records check.
- Mechanical knowledge and ability an asset but not required.
- Excellent Knowledge of City.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Previous Industry or related business experience.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills and Problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working well in a high pressure, fast paced environment.

Job Function:

- To ensure all duties and responsibilities are carried out to the best of their abilities, per company policies, procedures and written Contract agreement.

- Ensure that all moves under permit are within the Permit conditions and that you are in possession of the Permit and attached conditions during each move.
- Comply with all City, Provincial, and Federal Regulations for Weights and Dimensions. • Perform Daily Inspection of Hoisting Equipment as per MR 217/06 Part # 23
- Current driver’s abstract.
- Valid Manitoba class 1, driver’s license (Landoll).
- Valid Manitoba class 3 or class 1 driver’s license (Heavy Tow Truck).
- Current Police Criminal Records check.
- Mechanical knowledge and ability is required in towing preparation.
- Excellent Knowledge of City.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- 5 years Industry or related experience.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills and Problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working well in high pressure recovery situations.
- Capable of taking charge at serious recoveries.
Data Entry/Call Taker
Job Function:
- Responsible for the Answering of all customer and public phone Inquiries, while maintaining a professional and courteous tone and manner to ensure 100 % Customer Satisfaction.
- To perform the above duties and responsibilities to the best of your capabilities,
within company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Primary Duties:
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly (within 3 rings) and as indicated in the company policy and procedure manual.
- Enter tow calls into the computerised dispatch system as outlined in the company policy and procedure manual.
- Estimate rates for customers Based on company Policy and Pricing Guidelines
- Respond to Fax machine, MPI Computer, and E-mails
- Become familiar with Corporate client.
- General office and computer skills (typing).
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of the city.
- Industry experience is considered an asset.
- Good Interpersonal and Communication skills.
- Capable of working well in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
Dispatcher
Job Function:
- Responsible for distributing all calls for service to the fleet operators within the times specified by company policies and procedures to ensure 100% On-Time Performance.
- Ensure that all Drivers and Owner Operators have a fair and equal opportunity to earn revenues based on their capabilities and within the company guidelines of fairness to all while maintaining our customer service standards.
- Supervision of the fleet operators ensuring that all fleet drivers are adhering to Company Policies and Procedures.
Primary Duties:
- Dispatch calls to Fleet Drivers per Company Policy and Procedures.
- Update computer system on driver status and individual call status and the clearing of calls in dispatch.
- Responsible for keeping shift attendance, act when deemed necessary or notifying Operations Manager. (i.e. Driver attendance log etc.).
- Take Supervisory action with the fleet drivers when necessary and/or notify Operations Manager of action required.
- Assist fleet drivers with questions and needs relative to providing customer service or call completion.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Able to work well with little or no supervision.
- 5 years Industry or related experience.
- Excellent decision maker.
- Excellent knowledge of the city.
- Good computer skills.
